It standardizes how AI agents record their reasoning, input options, and the trade-offs considered. Software architects and engineering managers can then audit and understand AI-generated code decisions, ensuring traceability and shared understanding within development teams.
Use this if you need a clear, structured record of why your AI coding assistant made specific technical choices in your codebase.
Not ideal if your AI assistant is only making trivial code changes or if you don't require formal documentation of its technical reasoning.
