agentmorris/MegaDetector
MegaDetector is an AI model that helps conservation folks spend less time doing boring things with camera trap images.
This tool helps conservation biologists analyze vast numbers of camera trap images more efficiently. You provide a collection of camera trap photos, and it automatically identifies if animals, people, or vehicles are present, or if the image is empty. This allows wildlife researchers and ecologists to quickly filter out irrelevant images and focus on those containing wildlife activity.
254 stars. Available on PyPI.
Use this if you need to quickly sort through thousands of camera trap images to find out which ones contain animals, people, or vehicles, saving significant manual review time.
Not ideal if you need to identify specific animal species within your images, as this tool only detects general presence, not species-level classification.
