maps-as-data/MapReader
A computer vision pipeline for exploring and analyzing images at scale
This tool helps researchers and analysts automatically explore and categorize features within large collections of maps or other images. You feed it many image files, and it can either classify sections of those images based on visual traits you define or detect and recognize text within them. This is ideal for historians, geographers, or anyone working with extensive visual archives who needs to identify patterns at scale.
134 stars.
Use this if you need to systematically analyze visual elements or extract text from a vast quantity of map images, or any other image type.
Not ideal if you only have a few images to process or if your primary need is complex geospatial analysis rather than visual pattern recognition.
