[AAAI 2021] EMLight: Lighting Estimation via Spherical Distribution Approximation, [TIP] GMLight: Lighting Estimation via Geometric Distribution Approximation
This project helps 3D artists, game developers, or architects realistically place virtual objects into real-world images or scenes. It takes a photograph of an indoor environment as input and generates an illumination map, which describes the lighting conditions of that scene. This allows the user to render virtual objects so they appear naturally lit and integrated into the image, matching the real environment's light.

Use this if you need to accurately estimate the lighting of an indoor photograph to seamlessly integrate 3D virtual objects into that image.
Not ideal if you are looking for a tool to estimate outdoor lighting or if your primary goal is not 3D object insertion and rendering.
