Official code for the ACL 2024 paper: Chat Vector: A Simple Approach to Equip LLMs with Instruction Following and Model Alignment in New Languages.

Experimental

This project helps machine learning engineers and researchers adapt large language models (LLMs) to follow instructions and align with new languages. It takes an existing base LLM and a specialized 'chat' version of that model, then extracts a 'chat vector' to imbue the base model with conversational capabilities. This allows the creation of LLMs that understand and respond to prompts effectively in various languages.

No commits in the last 6 months.

Use this if you need to quickly equip a base large language model with instruction-following abilities and align it for specific languages without extensive retraining.

Not ideal if you require entirely new capabilities or foundational architectural changes to your LLM beyond adapting its conversational style.
