dtnewman/zev
A simple CLI tool to help you remember terminal commands
This tool helps you quickly recall or discover command-line instructions by describing what you want to do in plain language. You input a request like "find all .py files modified in the last 24 hours," and it provides the exact terminal command. It's designed for anyone who uses the command line regularly but doesn't want to memorize every syntax or search online constantly.
710 stars. No commits in the last 6 months. Available on PyPI.
Use this if you frequently work in the terminal but struggle to remember specific commands or want to quickly find the right command for a task without extensive searching.
Not ideal if you prefer to manually craft your commands from scratch, if you only use a handful of very common commands, or if you are uncomfortable running AI-generated commands.
