chvvkumar/simpleCloudDetect
Machine Learning based cloud detection for AllSky cameras
This project helps astronomers, astrophotographers, and observatory operators automatically determine current sky conditions from their AllSky camera images. It takes an image from your camera and tells you if it's clear, partly cloudy, overcast, raining, or snowing, enabling you to make informed decisions about observing or imaging sessions. The output can integrate with popular astronomy software or home automation systems.
Use this if you need an automated, real-time assessment of cloud cover and weather conditions directly from your AllSky camera to control observatory equipment or home systems.
Not ideal if you only need manual visual inspection of your AllSky camera feed or if you require long-range weather forecasting rather than current conditions.
