conservationtechlab/animl-r
Animl comprises a variety of machine learning tools for analyzing ecological data. The package includes a set of functions to classify subjects within camera trap field data and can handle both images and videos.
This tool helps wildlife biologists and ecologists automatically identify animals in camera trap footage. You feed in raw images or videos from your camera traps, and it outputs organized files or dataframes indicating which animals were detected in each frame. Wildlife researchers can use this to quickly process large datasets, saving significant manual review time.
Use this if you need to rapidly sort and identify animals from thousands of camera trap images and videos.
Not ideal if you primarily work with other types of ecological data like sensor readings or genetic sequences, as this tool is specifically for camera trap media.
