OpenSextant/Xponents
Geographic Place, Date/time, and Pattern entity extraction toolkit along with text extraction from unstructured data and GIS outputters.
This tool helps intelligence analysts, journalists, or researchers quickly understand the geographic context and timing of events described in any unstructured text. You input raw text documents, and it outputs a structured list of identified places (with coordinates), dates, times, and other key entities like IP addresses or keywords. This allows you to automatically pinpoint where and when things happened, even in very ambiguous or informal language.
Use this if you need to automatically extract and standardize geographic locations, dates, and other specific patterns from large volumes of text written in various languages and formats.
Not ideal if your primary need is complex linguistic analysis beyond entity extraction, or if you only work with highly structured data where geographical information is already clearly defined.
