This project helps humanitarian organizations and policy makers anticipate food crises earlier by analyzing news articles. It takes in streams of global news text and historical food insecurity classifications to predict future outbreaks of hunger. The output is a set of predictive indicators and a regression model to forecast food crisis phases, enabling more timely and effective emergency relief allocation.

No commits in the last 6 months.

Use this if you need to predict food insecurity outbreaks using high-frequency, publicly available news data to inform interventions and resource allocation.

Not ideal if you lack access to a large corpus of historical news articles or if your primary interest is in traditional, delayed food security indicators rather than forward-looking text features.
