SOAP - A Sockpuppet Auditing Tool for Very Large Online Platforms
This system helps researchers, regulators, and civil society actors understand how personalized recommender systems on very large online platforms (VLOPs) create 'filter bubbles' and amplify certain content. It takes a prompt defining a user persona and uses automated "sock-puppet" accounts to explore social media feeds, then analyzes the scraped content (text, image, audio) using AI. The output provides structured, empirical evidence of how platforms shape content exposure and contribute to issues like political radicalization or the spread of harmful content.
Use this if you need to systematically audit large online platforms for algorithmic biases, content amplification patterns, or the formation of filter bubbles in a regulatory-compliant manner.
